Jessica's Root Cause:
Prostitution can be many things here in the United States as well as in other places but In my understanding it's economically. People that tend to prostitute themselves usually do it to get money because they might not find a job or they find it easier to get more money. As it shows how here in Little village people that migrate for a better job and they can't find anything they think that that's the right choice “Montero, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, climbed her way up the hierarchy of the sex trade from the bottom. She entered the business by selling her own body after answering an ad in Hoy, according to Chicago police”. This is showing how people that try to work find it sometimes impossible to work because they don't have benefit that they need. Making this topic economically this is an issue as in my community as well because many people need jobs but sometimes don't get them because they don't have the benefits that the jobs require |
Hitzel's Root cause:
My topic is a cultural and social issue because culturally it is wrong in humanity for the world to see that it is okay for a women to sell her body and turn in her dignity for money and live an unhappy life of remorse. Where the influence can have an affect to the next coming generations in the future. Socially prostitution has made an impact on women as to men to find women less valuable and found to be nothing more than sexual objects |
Donny's Root Cause:
This issue is a social justice issue, like I have said before. The reason why this is a social justice issue, is because people who are prostitutes are people that live in our community. Not only are they affected, but the rest of the people that live in the community too. Prostitution has to do with Feminist criticism because people have stereotypes about women. One of those stereotypes is that women need men to have money. Women should be able to get their own money and not depend on men, but they do not have access to the same opportunities as men, and therefore may go to prostitution. Women are often told they are only good for sex and beauty. If we keep telling women that is what they are good for, then if they are desperate they will use those things to make money.
I believe that the three main reasons why prostitution exists are money, drugs, and lack of affection. Money causes women and men to sell their body because sadly in this world money runs everything .Without money you can have the basic needs to live a normal life. Also drugs are a big cause of prostitution. Most drug addicts would do anything to get drugs and some see prostitution as a way to get drugs. Lastly, lack of affection between families causes prostitution because as a human we need love. Some people don't have that in their households and so they go to the streets looking for it, and in the streets they find paths to prostitution.
