It's been first recorded that prostitution has been started by the Greeks. Prostitution started with The Hammurabi's code which was several laws that people were to follow throughout parts of Europe. This also was part of the code of Assura which was when women were chosen, “Assyrian law distinguished prostitutes from other women by dress in the Code of Assura.” They would dress them in a certain color to distinguish them. The legal Brothers in China also contributed to the prostitution by having prostitutes only on certain places of the town. The Greece Legal brothers thought that for free sex people should pay one oboe, which was one cent. From there it banished through the years and especially in New York. |

One of the earliest forms of prostitution was “sacred prostitution.” This meant that it was part of their religion. The earliest known human societies began in Mesopotamia. In the 3rd millennium B.C, the Sumerians, who were the first of ancient mesopotamians worshiped the goddess Ishtar. She was the goddess of love and war, and was a maiden every morning, but became a prostitute every evening, which influenced the religious practice they created. |

The history behind prostitution is dated back to the many years of the Sumerians and the Babylonians. Prostitution was a form of religious sexual practices in The years of 5th BC, which in that time. It was common that mostly young woman would have lost their virginity in the temples of Ishtar to many unknown men. To this was the way women would earn money to be able to give to their love goddess Astarte. As the years passed prostitution was introduced in Egypt and the Greek times till it got to France later on where it was made legal in 1161. |
